Wayne’s Shoe Collection: Part 5 (More Clogs)

Shoeaholics Anonymous Disclosure

This is a fifth post in a series that showcases the formerly shoe-obsessed Wayne’s shoe collection. Commentary by Wayne himself:

Since I know Kim love brown clogs…

Going back to my high-school days, there were two types of footwear I always fetishized and hoped would be available in men’s sizes: a pair of Dr. Scholl’s sandals and signature burgundy Etienne Aigner clogs. Well, in 1999-2000, Aigner had a shoe line designed for women (and us shoe trannies) with large feet called Easentials:

Unfortunately, there were no traditional Aigner burgundy available, but there were pairs available only in both chocolate and black; both smooth and a rather flimsy woven. I remember buying one pair (can’t remember the color), not necessarily knowing if they would fit my man’s size 11 feet, but it did, and I bought 3 more pair in the other 3 styles. Here they are in chocolate smooth leather and chocolate woven leather. (I think you can imagine what the black smooth and woven would look like.)

And the woven:

(See how flimsy the insteps are?)

The smooth pair were extremely comfortable when I last wore them about 10 years ago when I lived in Atlanta. Sadly, with all my other clogs, I haven’t had the chance to wear them back here in conservative Alabama, but a brief tryout shows the basement rot hasn’t gotten to these 2 pair yet.

Unfortunately, Aigner discontinued the Easentials line (and large sizes) about a decade ago.

Thanks Wayne!  If Wayne sends me more photos, I’ll be sure to try to add more post to this series.
