Blogger and TV personality Perez Hilton, known for his snarky wit and his penchant for spreading celebrity gossip, recently showed the world another side of himself – as a shoe designer – as he unveiled his own footwear: “Sparkle” and “Shine”. After teaming up with ShoeDazzle, Hilton created two shoe designs as part of the Celebrity Shoe Design Program for Charity. Watch the video here.
The first shoe design, deemed “Sparkle” by Hilton, is a unisex sneaker reminiscent of the classic Chuck Taylor All Stars high top with a silver upper. The Shine has some additional flair, however, with metal studs lining the collar and zipper detailing similar to the automatic watches that Hilton wears. These shoes, equally suited for a fashion-conscious man or a funky, hip woman, were created as a casual, sophisticated option that evokes Perez’s passion and refined fashion tastes.
The second design, named “Shine”, are the perfect match for hitting up Broadway in Chicago or going on a fancy night out with your guy. Made of black faux-suede featuring silver stud detailing, these elegant pumps could easily be the pièce de résistance in a knockout ensemble with their four-inch heels and one-inch platform. This shoe was definitely designed with the playful fashionista in mind.
Sales from the shoes will benefit GLSEN, the Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network, an organization whose mission is to teach teachers, students and the public at large about the dangers of homophobia and heterosexism. GLSEN was established in 1990 and seeks to create a safe learning environment for all children, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, race or religion. Though they primarily work towards sexual orientation and gender expression equality, they offer support to schools seeking to eliminate all forms of prejudice and inequality. All of the profits of Perez Hilton’s shoes will benefit GLSEN and its mission.
Discussing the organization and his involvement, Perez stated:
“I’m especially thrilled that we are going to be able to raise money for my charity of choice this year, GLSEN – the Gay Lesbian & Straight Education Network. Their vital work is helping youth all over America! Buying some fierce shoes can do a lot of good too, and that’s gonna make this holiday season truly faboosh!”
