40% of Nail Techs are Vietnamese

Pedicure Spa Flip-FlopsI recently treated myself to a pedicure.  I had never had one and felt I was about due.  It was a spur of the moment thing (while shopping in Omaha).

I’ve already decided I’ll definitely do it again, only next time I’ll bring along my Sensi Slides.  And I’ll tell you why. See, I was wearing my Mootsies Tootsies Loafers (good shopping shoes), but I did not want to put them back on once my toenails were painted up all pretty.  I decided to just wear the cheap flip-flop things they give you to drive home (and hope no one sees me).  Well, I decided to stop at Kohl’s quick, and while shopping, one of the cheap flip-flops broke!  Embarrased by now being barefoot, I resort to actually buying the cheapest pair of flip-flops I could find ($4 - where’s Dollar Tree when you need them?) knowing I’ll never wear them again. Have I mentioned I hate flip-flops? If not, I hate flip-flops.

Skewing the Shoe Buying Stats

Maybe I should change my shoe buying average to 5 per week at the rate I’m going this year. I got two new pairs via the UPS guy yesterday.  The Velvet Sequin Flip-Flops are okay (you know my stance on flip-flops), but my daughters loved them and took claim!

Then I ordered some Women’s Sensi Capri Opalescent Slides to replace my favorite Adidas Slides that got ruined during my painting party. I ordered “Black Pearl”, but I think they look dark purple.  Oh, my daughters are trying to claim this pair as well. We’ll see about that.

Arubas are Perfect Island Shoes

When I hear “Aruba”, I think of the sad story of how Natalie Holloway disappeared on the island of Aruba during a class trip. But now, Waldies has recently released a stylish slide, Aruba, made of ComfoTek foam (coined “squishtastic”).  Looks comfy to me. I didn’t care for Waldies’ Appalachian Trail shoes (known as the ”AT”) as they remind me of Croc imitations. But the Aruba style get a thumbs up.

Mootsies Tootsies Shoe Lovers Dream

My boyfriend and I are currently pursuing a long-distance relationship, so we frequently send each other pictures via email.  Above is the picture I took yesterday (before I went shoe shopping), and I’m wearing Mootsies Tootsies Leather Loafers (great shoes to wear while shopping, btw). Ignore my messy desk.

Mootsies Tootsies Fran

I have always been a fan of Mootsies Tootsies, and not just because it’s cool to try to pronounce the name (try saying it really fast three times - totally tongue twister).  Mootsies Tootsies Shoes are really comfortable shoes.  In fact, I’ve bought two more new pairs recently.  I got the Mootsies Tootsies Fran Slingbacks while visiting Patrick in Denver. I wore them with a pin-striped suit for Christmas Eve service.

Mootsies Tootsies AqualinaThen when I found these Mootsies Tootsies Aqualina Black Mules while shopping in Omaha, I was instantly in love! I have wore them several times with jeans and even with black dress pants.  Definitely a staple shoe in my closet.

Now I’m gonna see if I can convince Pat to share and write about some of his shoes here! C’mon, chant with me… Pat. Pat. Pat.

Nice Slides That Won’t Break Your Budget

Annie Cancun SlideWayne suggested these Annie Cancun Slides to me.  Although I like the look of them (especially the 2 3/4″ heel), I could do away with the “toady part” as many of you know I cannot stand things between my toes.

From Zappos: The “Cancun” is a versatile casual wedge that can go from a skirt to capri’s. This two-toned genuine leather thong will add to your own personal summer style. Lightly padded insole for added comfort. The stacked wedge heel will update your closet and the rubber bottom offers added stability.
