I watching Family Feud today (I prefer Richard Dawson over John O’Hurley). One of the bonus round questions was “What’s the average number of pairs of shoes a woman buys per year?” The top answer was…. 5. Yes, FIVE! Where are they getting these average people?! Obviously, not shoe addicts. I buy at least 5 new pairs of shoes per month.

Another from People Magazine’s Off The Rack ”You Asked We Found” …
Q: Please tell me where Kate Hudson got the gray boots she wears in the Star Tracks posted on your website. In case these boots are ridiculously expensive, can you also suggest a cheaper look-alike boot?
A: These particular grey boots are from Thomas Wylde and went for about $1700! But since they are last season’s style, they are no longer available.
But if you love the look, Zappos carries similar boots by kenzie for around 10% of the cost ($189).
The Hippo Boots have a row of bold decorative buttons on the outside that add up to big style. Inside zipper with an elastic gore band near the collar ensure ease and comfort. Leather Upper. Stacked Wedge.

One of the fun parts of my career in affiliate marketing is that companies send me free stuff to write reviews about. I’ve gotten everything from shoes (shocking, I know) to golf clubs (I don’t golf), bicycles (for my kids) to sex toys (yes, I’m serious).
Mixtionary.com sent me 3 copies of their new book “Mixtionary: Mixed-up modern words for the mixed-up modern world”. As I started to read my copy (keep reading for your chance to grab one of the other two copies), I noticed some cute shoe lingo that I thought I’d share with my fellow shoe addicts.
SHOEPREME (shoe + supreme) The ultimate in shoe design has been born! There is something new to obsess about, to live for, to believe in, to work all month for and never wear!
SHOEAGE (shoe + sewage) The sudden realization that last year’s hot design is completely out and was ridiculous to start with… which is most likely why the fashion industry has to reinvent itself every season.
SHOEISM (shoe + ism) The very involved and complex devotion to fine footwear - which could segue into a new religion, as there certainly are enough devotees.
SHOEPEDE (shoe + stampede) The head-long charge of a crowd of women bursting through the doors on the morning of a shoe sample sale in the hope that shoepremes will be had.
SHOERU (shoe + guru) A deeply knowledgeable style queen to whom you can turn for guidance in the matters of footwear.
So being the nice shoeru that I am, I am giving away the other 2 copies of this fine book to two fellow shoe lovers that leave comments on this post. Post now for your chance to win!
The fine print: Only one entry allowed per person. No Residency Restrictions (worldwide, baby). Winners will be chosen on 2/14/07 (The big V-Day! Don’t forget to send flowers!) Winners will be emailed (your email address must be valid, but will not show on the site) to respond with their snail mail addy. Comments will be moderated to prevent spammage and will not show up immediately, but I’ll be sure to approve all posts that say “Kim is Great” or similar verbiage.

Shoe fanatics everywhere have been going crazy for the new Shoe Wheel by Rakku that offers the ultimate, stylish solution for those who have enough of conventional shoe racks (aka me). And if I owned all those colors of pumps, it’d be even more cool.
The shoe wheel (looks like a rolodex to me) includes 20 expandable pockets that can hold up to 30 pairs of shoes (up to mens’ size 10.5). The shoes are inserted into adjustable pockets through elastic bands, which secure the shoes in place.
Want your own? Sorry, they are sold out until the end of February.

Grammy award-winning recording artist, musician and philanthropist, Alicia Keys attended the Doctors Of The World 2006 Health And Human Rights Leadership Awards in New York City last year. She appeared to be wearing a vintage Herve Leger gown and
Forzieri Black Calf Leather T-Strap Evening Sandal Shoes. These Italian made dressy t-strap sandals are elegant and the chic black color pairs gracefully with a feminine and sophisticated rounded shape. The upper is made in pebble soft leather for a glamorous effect.

When I hear “Aruba”, I think of the sad story of how Natalie Holloway disappeared on the island of Aruba during a class trip. But now, Waldies has recently released a stylish slide, Aruba, made of ComfoTek foam (coined “squishtastic”). Looks comfy to me. I didn’t care for Waldies’ Appalachian Trail shoes (known as the ”AT”) as they remind me of Croc imitations. But the Aruba style get a thumbs up.

I look forward to daily emails from Wayne, a dear reader, offering what he refers to as “shoe p*rn”. His note today with this pair of Biviel Slingbacks… “Strangely enough, I like these”. I’m not sure I agree. At least not in metallic blue (what would you wear them with?!). I’m not crazy about the tan or bronze either. But I could maybe make the black work.
Zappos 411…
A casual sling back with a demi wedge and rubber sole. Knotted leather upper. 2 1/2″ heel. Leather lining. A great leather and elastic combination strap that is accommodating to every woman!

I’ve always been a fan of “Mary Jane” styled shoes, and own several pairs. The problem is I never can find the perfect outfit to wear them with. But, I was so excited when I first saw Target carry these fun, cute, comfortable alternative to slippers. I love to wear them around the house (too hot to wear to bed though). I own several pairs of these as well (the picture is of my Christmas ones that I bought this year after Christmas on clearance). If I knew how to knit, I could make my own.
While I’m on the subject of Mary Janes, I found the cutest Mary Jane Socks for little girls at UncommonGoods.com ”She’s never too young for Mary Janes, and this six-pack of soft cotton socks will provide her with her first pairs. These adorable little Mary Jane socks look just like the classic shoe, complete with a stripe strap and non-skid bottoms. Set includes one pair of each color and comes in an attractive gift box.” Guess what my little Godchild is getting for her first birthday?!

Say it isn’t so. I personally don’t care for wearing the sunflower color on my feet. But the Atlanta Journal-Constitution printed last week that yellow is the most versatile color for this transitional time of year. They recommended the Amina style high-heeled patent sandals from Cole Haan (I couldn’t find a link for it) as the perfect footnote with a little black dress. Later, you can pair the sandals with a white dress. I surfed and surfed for a yellow pair of sandals that I would consider wearing. I decided on these Sexy Chic Schutz Sandals - Leather upper with beaded detail; Wrap-around ankle straps for the perfect fit; Leather padded footbed; Leather covered heel completes this sexy sandal; 3 1/2″ heel; Made in Brazil.
